to my lovely & amazing style scouts,

here's a stylish treat for all of us this weekend. if you're a bay area resident or fancy a weekend road trip to our golden city by the bay, you must visit the marvelous alameda point vintage fashion faire.

beginning this friday, october 21st, the o club in alameda point will create a vintage heaven -  filled with designer accessories, menswear, military and bridal galore. from amazing steals {just say yes to those romantic ivory lace slipdresses} to collectible deals {well hello there, emerald cut art deco earrings!}, there's no other place to indulge in our love for all things vintage.

as an added, feel good bonus, operation care and comfort will be setting up a station at the faire collecting donations for american servicemen and women serving overseas. bring anything from personal care items (toothbrushes, lotions.) to fun things (disposable cameras, phone cards) to halloween treats (candy corn, reese's pieces & licorice!) to drop off when entering the faire.

music - in any & every shape and shade - never fails to make my heart beat a little faster and eyes shine a little brighter. it's our antidote to those gray days. it's the soundtrack of our wild adventures. and it connects us through sweet lyrics and even sweeter melodies.

so naturally, when a music festival rolls into our glittering city by the bay, it's the happiest of days. and this past weekend's picture perfect treasure island music festival was no exception.

it was a slowed down version of outside lands....with a diy tent {we made friendship bracelets}, hula hoop dancers, a fantastic silent disco {everyone dances around wearing wireless headphones connected to the dj booth!} and an endless stretch of grass to lay, listen and soak in the sun.

beach house had us swaying in the sunset, explosions in the sky took us to the stars, friendly fires were dance fantastic & death cab for cutie filled the air with heavenly goodness.

and as a little memory of this magical sunday afternoon, i have this gift for you - a little mixtape of some of these sunny moments + a few current faves woven in between...

hi there! i'm dana from what the frock?! i met syl on weddingbee (she's mrs. ostrich, I'm ms. sloth), and i'm so excited that she's letting me guest post on silver lining! 

in the past few months, the mister and i bought a house, got married, and went on a big honeymoon. the result? 

we're broke. 

well, not really, but all of our spending money has been going towards replenishing our savings account. this means that i'm not really shopping right now. and it's breaking my heart, because i love to shop. but that doesn't mean that i can't window shop, or at least do the digital version of window shopping, a.k.a. scouring the web for my favorites and drooling on my laptop keyboard. so here's what i'm jonesing for this fall. i can look all i want, i just can't touch!

happy monday, kids!

this post will be short but full of sweet. 

this past weekend i may have watched beyonce's hot off the press, 60's inspired music video, "countdown," oh i don't know...maybe 25 times? the terrific technicolors, marvelous mod styling and cool choreography reminded me of my favorite 60's french film, "les parapluies de cherbourg," {the umbrellas of cherbourg}. which translates to = i truly, madly, deeply adore. 

every outfit is amazing...the primary hued leotards with bold striped sunhats, breezy oversized shirts in the prettiest pastels, superchic black with a dash of leopard and those dreamy dance class ensembles. heavenly all around.

and if that wasn't enough? this colorful masterpiece was directed by tom petty's visionary daughter, adria petty. bravo, girl.

i can't think of a better way to kick of a new week than with this marvelous music video. it's 3 minutes of pure delight....and it'll be my go to groove all this week. :)

as we begin this much needed weekend, i'll be wishing for a morning with spiced apple waffles, a sunny afternoon on the tennis courts and an evening filled with salted caramel brownies, too much laughter and the people i adore. and a few cozy hours in between.

and i'll be wishing for an equally blissful experience for each and every one of you. :)

chevron. it's everywhere these days; sneaking into home decorator fabrics, on walls, and especially now with the missoni for target craze, chevron patterns are showing up more and more on clothes and accessories. but i'm not one to jump right on trends, especially when they involve spending a lot of money on clothes, when my husband and i are saving up to buy our first house next year. so i came up with a cheap and easy way to get my chevron fix by diy'ing chevron patterns on my nails. 

so sit back and relax with a couple of bottles of nail polish, a roll of blue painter's tape,
scissors, and follow these easy steps to get the look for yourself!

with autumn fully underway, my eyes have been lighting up at the sight of any and every handbag style by the lovely and amazing anya hindmarch, one of my all time favorite designers. always clever and bubbling with charm, each piece delights with a wink and a smile.

i turn another year wiser...

with lots and lots of candles on this cake, you'd think i'd have an endless list of things to wish for...a sunny south of france getaway, a yellow public bicycle, a sunset dinner at baker beach, a glamorous night at the ballet....
